For one dedicated senior, Sophia Huck, volleyball has always been a family tradition. Inspired by her mother, who played in high school, she developed a love for the sport at a young age. "The second I could start getting my hands on a volleyball, she had me playing, and I’ve been hooked ever since," she shared.

But her interests extend beyond the volleyball court. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with friends, reading, and being with her family. As she prepares for graduation, her goals reflect both personal and academic aspirations. "I want to graduate in the top 10 of my class, make the most of my time with friends before college, and go as far as I can in volleyball. Supporting my friends and making my last year of school the best it can be is really important to me," Sophia explained.

While volleyball has played a big part in her high school experience, she’s also involved in managing other sports, like girls' basketball and track. However, she doesn’t participate in other athletic competitions outside of school volleyball.

Looking toward the future, she’s already setting her sights on higher education. Huck shared, "After I graduate, I plan to attend either Missouri State or Maryville and pursue a degree in occupational therapy. To prepare, I’m taking as many college credit classes as possible and observing occupational therapists to gain insight into the field."

As for volleyball beyond high school, she’s not planning to chase the sport competitively in college. "I’ve loved my experience with volleyball, but I want to focus on my studies. If I do play after college, it’ll be in a coed or fun league—nothing serious," Sophia concluded.

As her senior year unfolds, she’s determined to make it one to remember, both on and off the court.
