As his senior season winds down, Ste. Genevieve High School’s Devon Flye is making every moment count on the football field. Devon, a varsity player, has been a key part of the Dragons’ offense this season, while also handling punting duties. Through the first six games of the year, he’s showcased his versatility and consistency, with 17 receptions totaling 252 yards. Averaging 14.82 yards per catch and 42 yards per game, Devon’s contributions as a wide receiver have helped drive the team forward.
But his athletic ability doesn’t stop there. Devon also steps up as the team’s punter, having kicked 17 punts for a total of 634 yards, averaging 37.29 yards per kick, with a booming 67-yard punt as his season-best. To add to his impressive stat line, he’s completed both of his two passing attempts this season for 30 yards.
With three games left in his final season, Devon is on pace to finish strong, potentially ending with 23 receptions, 378 yards, 6 touchdowns, and 23 punts totaling 943 yards. For Devon, though, the stats tell only part of the story.
“The best part of this season,” Devon shares, “is playing with my brothers one last time.” His close bond with his teammates makes every game memorable, and he cherishes the time spent on the field with them.
When he’s not on the gridiron, Devon likes to stay active by playing pick-up basketball with his brother at the local community center. He’s also a multi-sport athlete, competing on Ste. Gen’s varsity basketball and track teams.
Looking ahead to life after high school, Devon’s focus shifts from sports to construction. He’s currently taking a construction class at the Perryville Career Center, gaining hands-on experience and preparing for a future in the field. His goal is to work in construction after graduation.
Balancing athletics and academics is no small feat, but Devon is determined to finish his senior year with all A’s and B’s. With his talent, work ethic, and dedication, Devon Flye is set to leave a lasting legacy at Ste. Genevieve High School.
